When I saw this, I was 17 and in the theater with my Boyfriend*. (White cis gay male here.) We were so hungry to see LGBT people, and Smith was a phenomenon at the time post-Clerks.
Yeah- what kind of monsters would try to recruit minorities? Can you imagine- a diverse police force, developing social and professional bonds with marginalized people? Minorities IN THE ROOM when policies are discussed and developed?
As a gay man and progressive, I agree with rights and recognition as well as debate- which is why the tantrum* Trans Queer Pueblo threw shouldn’t be rewarded.
