You are absolutely correct. Why take a chance on an original idea when Sony's directive to Tommy Rothman is to make money, not great films?

It is spelled GHOSTBUSTERS, please correct!! I grew up with Tommy & if this mess succeeds it is only because it is costing him next to nothing. Imagine the salaries he'd have to pay if it were male stars equivalent to those of the 1984 version. He's known for his cost cutting & this is a perfect example.
