There are some seriously partisan people on this site who can’t fathom a term longer than like 3-4 years, when it can actually make a lot more financial sense to extend it. I thought I’d made a HUGE mistake after I made the purchase, but frankly I think I made the correct choice here.

Yours were my reasons for a long loan on a sensible car too. I get that you lose money in the long run, but you can always make big payments further down the road, and I bought the car at a time when A. I desperately needed flexibility, and B. knew that I’d most likely pay it off ahead of time anyway.
