I’m not refuting anything you’re saying, but I can’t see how those maps can possibly be right. The idea that the Houston area gets hit by a floodworthy storm only once every 500 years sounds borderline impossible.

The $2000/year doesn’t sound outlandish for your area, but a $25k deductible? Holy hell.

Hmmm, $100/mo for flood insurance in an area that averages one major storm like this every 7.5years to 10years or so = $12,000/decade in premiums. Average cost to repair major flood damage to an average home is $25,000 - $35,000. That premium actually seems pretty spot on.

I’ve never understood opting out. Sure, it’s more money, but insurance for these kind of things is generally priced appropriately for the property.

If they’re going to whitewash things, why do they have to pick all the good stuff? Ghost in the Shell? Death note? Fucking hell. I’ll boycott all of them, but damn it, couldn’t you whitewash some no-name 4th rate show nobody liked from the start and get some Asian actors/actresses for the good stuff?
