For a less common choice, the direct-injected M196R inline-8 that powers the most expensive car ever sold, the Mercedes 300 SLR Uhlenhaut, which was also on the W196 F1 car that won 9 out of 12 races it competed on.

There’s a picture of it on Reddit from 8 years ago with a different license plate. The person who took the picture in eastern Washington state claims it is a plate from Texas and had seen the car around for about a year. So, this thing has existed since at least 2013... 

This is from 2020, but taken at face value, GM is doing about 30% profit on each Tahoe/Suburban and probably more on the Escalade. Numbers that would make Porsche and BMW envious.

The Chevy Suburban/GMC Yukon XL/Cadillac Escalade. Totally pedestrian underpinnings, huge footprint, both physical and carbon, and obviously one of the most profitable cars from GM, because it costs very little to make and you can make a huge buck on them especially on the embellished Escalade.

Yeah, that was a totally bonkers design concept, but they did not actually try to sell it to the public, though nowadays I think they could price it at a few $millions and find buyers...

This was the spiritual successor to the Renault 5 Turbo 2 (Maxi Turbo in rallying guise). If they had sold that in the US, it might have helped with the terrible reputation the atrociously-named LeCar garnered while it was sold here.

This sounds like a recipe for completely artificial racing. Other than qualifying, there would be very little driver skill involved in making the difference during the Sunday race.

It would look okay as a retractable door handle in the next Stellantis EV, I guess. That’s about the level of relevance that the Stellantis group gives Lancia, so that would be appropriate.
