The Bugatti straight-8 engine was a magnificent piece of engineering, and it powered all kinds of world-beating cars from 1922 to 1956, from racing cars to the magnificent Royale Coupé Napoleon.

For a less common choice, the direct-injected M196R inline-8 that powers the most expensive car ever sold, the Mercedes 300 SLR Uhlenhaut, which was also on the W196 F1 car that won 9 out of 12 races it competed on.

The Cosworth DFV 90° V8 is the winningest racing engine of all time, and it looks great and sounded great, so I’ll go with that...

There’s a picture of it on Reddit from 8 years ago with a different license plate. The person who took the picture in eastern Washington state claims it is a plate from Texas and had seen the car around for about a year. So, this thing has existed since at least 2013...

This is from 2020, but taken at face value, GM is doing about 30% profit on each Tahoe/Suburban and probably more on the Escalade. Numbers that would make Porsche and BMW envious.

The Chevy Suburban/GMC Yukon XL/Cadillac Escalade. Totally pedestrian underpinnings, huge footprint, both physical and carbon, and obviously one of the most profitable cars from GM, because it costs very little to make and you can make a huge buck on them especially on the embellished Escalade.

Yeah, that was a totally bonkers design concept, but they did not actually try to sell it to the public, though nowadays I think they could price it at a few $millions and find buyers...

Ugh, why do we have to live in a world with so much pettiness, vindictiveness, and passive-aggressiveness? If you don’t like or don’t care about someone, don’t waste money in buying them a gift, period. If they actively make your life miserable, tell them that instead of buying them itchy socks...

Now playing

This was the spiritual successor to the Renault 5 Turbo 2 (Maxi Turbo in rallying guise). If they had sold that in the US, it might have helped with the terrible reputation the atrociously-named LeCar garnered while it was sold here.

Ugh, you’re right! Can’t say I am proud to rehash an Ecclestone idea, I need a shower from those water sprinklers now... Still, it would be a cool experiment 😈

This sounds like a recipe for completely artificial racing. Other than qualifying, there would be very little driver skill involved in making the difference during the Sunday race.

After all these years, I still think this is the car I wanted to see racing in Le Mans (there was a version with headlights), and maybe along with the Audi Avus...

It would look okay as a retractable door handle in the next Stellantis EV, I guess. That’s about the level of relevance that the Stellantis group gives Lancia, so that would be appropriate.

For that, they know they just have to call their bff herschel... It’s great to claim to be “pro-life” when you’re rich enough to just force abortions on others at your convenience. Money always trumps hypocrisy.

Yes, and never try to approach geese to take a gander! :)

Which is not saying much in a country that elected president “grab’em by the pussy”- Donny, who is also running for president. I can only imagine what the main topics of a debate between the two of them would be, probably dick size, money, and who has slept with the most women. blergh...

The only way this news could be improved is if the geese were replaced by turkeys. This one was in New Hampshire in 2019, a tiny little payback for the mass slaughtering their kind suffers this time of the year...

Don’t worry, if you want a hurricane-force full-blast of brutal irrationality in the internet in your face, just head to Twitter and do a search for “Elon”... well, search for anything really. These are the current latest tweets showing up if you search for something as inane as “goldfish”:

If he can get that hole fixed for just $5 million, he should be elected president, no questions asked. $5 million will probably be just the cost of organizing the bidding, paying the panel that will adjudicate the winning contractor, plus geotech assessment, civil engineering budgeting, etc... Better to turn it into a
