I think you’re missing my point, unless you’re still in middle school. We are presumably adults talking about this, right? Do you think you should still view most situations in life the same way you did as a 13 year old? I’m talking about progress because we are adults and should hopefully have some insight that these

I don’t think it’s just words. I think the words have immense consequences and I think harassment is never okay. There clearly needs to be adult intervention into this situation.

Trust me, I’m not without those violent urges, especially in cases of blatant racism, white supremacy, intimidation, etc. But, I also realize that those are base instincts and not a way to actually act in society. Not saying that racist name-calling are, either, not by a longshot. But if we’re going to applaud kids

Sure, but presumably you’re an adult now, right? Or closer to adulthood than whenever the 6th grade was? Do you still think that kids punching each other in the head is the way to make progress?

Sure, one fight solved racism.

They’re fucking kids. Who would ignore physical violence involving children, especially children IN A SCHOOL? Would more violence help stop the racism? How much violence do you think would help Micah to stop being harassed?

Words matter, and they need to be dealt with. I don’t know what the school and parent’s

What would have been the appropriate response from that “white woman” in your opinion? Should she have stood by and let the children beat each other to death?

So you think the teacher should turn and walk away from a violent incident in the hallways? Who knows how that could have escalated, in either direction. Her goal is to keep any students from ending up hurt or dead. Someone needed to put a stop to a situation that could have turned much worse. Would you want your kids

Finally someone with a comment that makes sense and isn’t just fueled by emotional outrage. We most likely will never fix or cure racism, but we sure as hell won’t do it by beating it out of anyone. And, we won’t do anything about it if we just ignore hate speech as “just words”. There has to be a middle ground, and

So we should just let people children fight it out until there’s a clear winner and someone in the hospital right?

they, they, them.

Sorry if you’ve already seen this gem from the Women’s March but it never hurts to see it again.

Yeah I agree, I hate this kind of position. I’m white, am I not allowed to listen to hip-hop? Do we all need to agree to stay in our designated race lanes when it comes to the art we love? Who cares if white guys play jazz or black guys play country music?

This movie may be problematic on several levels, I haven’t

Do you ever offer any insight or are you really into dropping 3 word phrases and never backing them up?

I don’t get this. Wasn’t the “Free the Nipple” campaign essentially a feminist movement? Are feminists now requesting that women cover themselves to keep from offending male eyes with their dirty breasts or what?

Absolute bullshit, speak for yourself.

This is disgusting and I probably would knock this old man out if I heard him spewing this bullshit.

That being said, what progress do we make by so often just dismissing this stuff as “well, that’s white people for you?”. I ask not because I’m offended or that I feel victimized by those statements, but I ask because

Shows a lot about where we are as a country that a black muslim child hanging in a tree wouldn’t immediately warrant a full investigation.

Agreed. Hearing the poor little girl’s own words is so heartbreaking. She was absolutely right, and it’s tragic that these people, her own family, robbed her of what opportunities might have been possible in her future.

Nurses and doctors do it to make sure their birthing process is on their schedule - not necessarily yours.
