What’s your opinion on the difference between a kid gambling on Yu-gi-Oh card packs and gambling on a loot box?

Not sure where all this ‘harm to minors’ stuff is coming from. Are there studies on the effects of lootboxes on minors? The findings could be interesting.

Noice! Though I thought I always see professional cosplay here on Kotaku?

That’s insane to have only just started the game not long ago yet you’re rank 6! Have you sunk a lot money into it, though?

I’d love to see the numbers too. And very good point!

To add, back in the day when it came out I reached to rank 16, which felt good. Could hardly get passed that, but a sense of progression was there back then. In today’s hearthstone it’s like you’re facing the same people who didn’t quit 2 years ago like I did lol.

I guess you skipped over the part where I said I’ve used WoW tokens to get card packs? I’ve spent more money than you (figuratively speaking cos I used wow tokens instead of real money).

I know the statistics. That’s why I find it bizarre how most players are whales. I’ve played Yu-gi-Oh online and you find noobs a lot of the time. Most online games in general are mostly noobs with a few good and insane players here and there.

I’ve never play a TCG where so many players have all the recent cards. It’s as if Hearthstone’s player base are 90% whales. Most of my games involve opponents who’s deck dust count must be through the roof... at rank 20/19...

I’ve been playing for a few months now (played it for a bit when the game came out but stopped) and I still can’t break out of rank 19 so, yeah, I feel you. Everyone you play against even at the lowest rankings have amazing decks - as in they’ve managed to make net decks. To have played the game for months and opened

Readers heavily disagreeing with a Kotaku author? Is this real? :P

Hahahaha the rng is real. Insane.

I’m getting like a 70s vibe from this.

    That’s what she said.

I so badly want to get this. But what is vanilla Skyrim gonna be like when I’ve played an 80+ modded Skyrim for hundreds of hours...?

I stopped playing the game when I finished the main questline. But my play time got to around 43 hours and I wasn’t even level 40. I never got a chance to try these trials because I was never level 40 - bizarre that they put something like this so early into the game.

    Drink pup. Missed opportunity! :P

Some nice games but I’ve got a backlog to get through to end 2017, ha. Gotta finish Super Mario Odyssey yet and am only a few hours in.

I think that’s unfair to want to see the F2p model decimated. Some developers love the fact their video games are free to play for those without the money to pay for games. 95% of those players don’t spend anything. It’s only the 5% that do (some of them whales) which rakes in the income in order to fund the game and

So how does ‘you have to be this age to buy this game/game’s loot boxes’ change irresponsible parents? I was playing GTA Vice City when I was 10. Video games to parents are just considered a distraction to most parents. Call loot boxes gambling if you want but I doubt legalising it isn’t gonna change much - you have
