Dude, you have a LOT of work ahead of you...
This is almost a carbon-copy of my dad’s story.
He was given his 1927 Model T as a graduation present in 1946 from the town doctor who he worked for throughout high school. She felt that dad needed to have a car to drive to and from college (and to eventually take his lady-friend, my mother, on their first date.)

When are non-tech people (like the executives making the design decisions for products like the Tesla,) going to understand that RFID and other passive ID technologies ARE NOT SECURE AND NEVER WERE INTENDED TO BE SECURE.

The obvious solution is to replace the MacBook with something that doesn’t spontaneously combust — like a Dell.

Perhaps Jezebel or Kotaku beed something written for them, hmm???
I wouldn’t bet on it. The trailer made it look like the GT was Shelby’s project. In reailty, It was developed by Lola for Ford and initially raced (unsuccessfully,) by Holman-Moody. Ford later forced the project onto Shelby American (who didn’t want it,) in order to make the car faster and more reliable.
I was the fireman on a VERY short-lived enduro team.
Infrastructure costs to effectively implement this would be enormous, and the system would only work for semis and other Very Tall Vehicles.
Far better to design replaceable battery packs and swap depleted units for fully-charged units at a fuel station — just like you do with your propane grill.
Robotic systems could…
