I like how you say there isn’t a tutorial, but mid-way through, mention that you have to get 4 abilities to leave the Plateau region... That kinda sounds like a tutorial.

I wouldn’t ask myself is something is wrong, I’d leave the server. Jesus, this is some first world problems stuff if I’ve ever seen it.

I use discord and have zero issues with the community, you wanna know why? I don’t join servers for seedy communities. Just use it for playing games, use it for chatting with friends. Don’t use it to find friends on reddit, lol. You can use discord without going into any servers you think are toxic.
