Other than making repeated bombing runs over Turkey while being warned not to, you are correct. But its the repeated bombing runs that demonstrates the danger. Looking at the radar data, they were pretty close to, or were actually dropping their ordinance over Turkey to hit Syria. Russia was one poorly executed…

I would bet anything that Turkish troops inside Turkish borders were right underneath the bombing run (and I have a hunch that they were in the vicinity of the bombing on the Syrian side too). I have a hard time blaming Turkey for shooting down an attack aircraft that is dropping ordinance and lining up over my troops…
