As someone who basically worships the Beatles’ catalog but who recognizes how absolutely toxic the personal dynamics became, I’m glad we’ve mostly moved beyond “blame Yoko” nonsense. Read any honest Beatles biography and you come away with the impression that Lennon/McCartney was always a time bomb, even before they

Addams Family 2 was freaking terrible (and I found the first one at least OK) but it was weirdly reassuring sitting there hearing kids get excited about trailers for probably mediocre movies coming to theaters (looking at you, Sing 2). Kids still love going to movies.

All four seasons have been adapted into and released as movies.

Look, Disney basically had to be shamed into even admitting the creative contributions of folks like Carl Barks and Ub Iwerks. All good things come from the Mouse. Don’t question the Mouse. Submit to the Mouse.

Good. The second season is even better than the first and Yorke in particular is doing Emmy worthy work.

I'm a fan of RTD's seasons but no companion ever went from interesting to pointless as hard as Martha. Smart, independent, strong willed character who gets locked into pining after the Doctor? Oof.

I really liked Pratt's vocal performance in Onward as a surprisingly sweet, supportive dude. I don't know that this casting says instant disaster to me.

It turned out the love interest killed a baby (possibly on the Titanic?) and the Most Evil Wizard Ever wants to prevent World War 2 and Neville beheaded a woman. I liked the first movie a lot but Jesus was Crimes a mess.

Any possibility of adapting some of his adult mystery/thriller stories? Because some of those are wickedly fun.

I totally forgot she was in the TV version of The Night Manager! Not only gender-flipped but pregnant.

Makes me think: you could totally do a gender flipped George Smiley. Give Olivia Colman a couple of years.

Such a funny, smart act. Glad she's happy.

The Emmys came up with an actually pretty interesting slate of genres and subjects in the Drama category: superhero, romance, dystopia, horror, sci-fi, a drama about ball culture, and a traditional family drama that at least has an innovative timeframe structure. And then they gave it to The Crown - for the first

Amy and Rosa saying they loved each other made me cry. It was just sweet and seemed filled with real life affection between the actresses. Honestly, I'm a sucker for sentimental finales.

Whoever cast him as Mike's brother and the great John Cullum as Mike's dad on The Middle was brilliant. Three experts on dry deadpan deliveries.

This is the first time I’ve ever heard of Ron’s Gone Wrong, so you might want to start advertising more for a movie releasing in a month.

Alita: Battle Angel. Hollywood adaptations of manga/anime aren’t exactly known for being great. Rodriguez is an extremely hit or miss director. The first reveals of the Alita facial effects weren’t promising. But it’s an exciting, immersive, surprisingly touching movie with a crazy loveable heroine and great action

Netflix is a single person, apparently?

I’ve been pretty cautious about going back to movie theaters but I have to admit I want to see Mission: Impossible on a really big screen. It’s a franchise that tends to do pretty well with size and spectacle.

The first movie score I ever bought. James Horner’s music for the original is sublime.
