Yeah, in the book, the fact that the Overlook is now just a ghostly presence is fairly important. Interested to see how they write around it.

I mostly just found Doctor Sleep boring. It's not close to King's worst but it never really gets that compelling.

Hader does walk away with the movie, no argument there. I feel like the only adult Loser who really gets nothing interesting to do is Jay Ryan, a solid actor who has one good scene with Chastain but is otherwise reduced to The Nice Hot Guy. The kid actors were the best part of the first one but the flashbacks

This is a wonderful essay. I've always admired how seriously King takes childhood as a subject and how both penetrating and compassionate he can be.

They didn’t, though I suggested it might help explain parts of Reloaded and Revolutions.

I recently had a friend who had never seen a Matrix movie marathon the entire series. They kept texting me. For the first movie it all “holy shit this is great.” For the second movie it was mostly questions (who is the key guy and why does he matter? what’s the architect saying?). For the third movie it was angry

While Tomlin and Fonda are their legendary selves, I will always think of this as the show where I learned Sam Waterston is a surprisingly good doofus.

What terminal illness would be so dire you need to make as much money as soon as possible but would leave you in good enough physical condition to play The Most Dangerous Game?

I have fonder memories of the collectible Goonies glasses we got from the pizza place than the actual movie. I remember that one of them had the deleted octopus scene on it.

Ready or Not was great fun but I had to drive almost an hour to see it because the local screens were almost all summer blockbusters hanging on.

I liked the first movie a lot as a coming of age movie with a terrific group of kid actors. As a horror movie it was a bit of a letdown.

Ready or Not. I loved this movie. Funny, suspenseful, gory, and satirical. Weaving as a very sympathetic, very human “player” gives some surprisingly hilarious line readings. But, really, the entire cast is terrific.

Look, if I can deal with Bill Skarsgard giving me confusing and uncomfortable feelings about Pennywise in the It movies, you can deal with this.

You know, I get that it is a gimmick and you could just cast different sets of actors or use CG, but I find this particular combination of gimmick and material kind of interesting. The whole musical is about time passing and disillusionment. There’s also something about a really good actor coming back to a role much

According to Wikipedia, Charley Pride won Entertainer of the Year in 1971. So there's been exactly one African American winner in 50 years, which is pretty damning itself.

This sounds like a Frasier plotline. He would hold a fancy dinner party to organize opposition to the park and discover that Eddie is the barking ringleader.

Reminds me of the Better Off Ted episode where the company orders employees to call each other insulting names and they get increasingly ludicrous. Bedbug would fit right in.

Toad the Wet Bedbug?

Hall has turned into a really solid adult character actor and is actually the right age for the character, so sounds good to me.

If tourism takes a hit and the Galaxy's Edge bump never materializes, I suspect a lot of their plans will quietly be scaled back.
