The most memorable moments in even his more serious films tend to be these explosions of joy and exuberance. My favorite has to be the barn dance sequence in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

I think Terry’s promotion anxieties were maybe a little too serious to stick in what was clearly meant to be a very silly plot.
Of course Rosa would love The Intern. It's a Nancy Meyers movie.
Rewatched The Lost Boys for the first time in decades awhile back. It’s not a good movie at all but it does have a certain 80s MTV visual style that really works for it. Hardwicke was the only Twilight director who even seemed to be attempting a distinct style.
The one complete dark horse candidate I wish would win is McCarthy. There is some stellar talent in the Best Actress category but that was the performance that blew me away this year. Oh, and score should go to anything but Mary Poppins Returns, a movie I really liked with a really formulaic score.
Hey, they finally remembered that Jay and Cam are buddies. That was nice.
He needs to either stop looking at the camera or learn to do some Jim Halpert looks.
I cried so hard my beloved shepherd came to see if I was alright, which just made me cry harder. He was found chained up in a yard and sick from severe dehydration and neglect. Those monsters missed out on a great dog.
Interesting video essay. Screened also did a great video on violence in Guillermo del Toro’s movies.
I’m not sure “Russell Crowe as William Shakespeare” shows the greatest casting sense, either. I like Crowe; in the right role he can be great. But as a dashing William Shakespeare in what’s essentially a romantic comedy? That sounds like a terrible idea.
It’s a shame Anthony Minghella, who did such good work scripting for the original series, has passed on.
I was actually looking forward to this show and hadn't realized it was airing yet.
Fakakta Foursome was always my favorite Marvel comic.
Eh, Worthington is fine as part of an ensemble like Cake or Hacksaw Ridge. I just don't think he's compelling as a lead. Though even old pros like Weaver and Lang weren't super memorable in Avatar.
I really enjoyed it up until the weird turn into the kidnapping plot. Marge and Krusty made a weirdly interesting pair of characters.
When I first read the headline I assumed she was doing the In Memoriam segment so the Mary Poppins song is an improvement (although it would make a decent In Memoriam song, actually).
Saw Happy Death Day 2. I’ve really grown fond of the first one after originally seeing it with zero expectations. The second one is a much messier, much more sprawling thing in terms of genre and tone - as the movie acknowledges, they’re borrowing as much from the Back to the Future movies as Groundhog Day or slashers…
The Heiress is a great movie, even if de Havilland was a ridiculous piece of casting as a woman that a man could only possibly love for her money.
You really feel how much more time and emphasis the side characters got this season. Not just Schneider’s really sad journey but also in things like the sweet little subplot about Elena trying to reconnect Leslie and his daughter.
Syd is such an interesting character. I like how their relationship gets more complex this season, not only with that excellent hotel scene but with their first big fight.
