That visiting princess story with its Roman Holiday riff was one of the more unexpectedly touching episodes of the later seasons. This was just mediocre. A few decent jokes (I liked Marge's weird dinner table guessing game, which felt very Marge) but no emotion at all.

Now I want a whole series of director's favorite composers shading them. John Williams says Spielberg is a hack, Elfman says Tim Burton's films have become unbearable, Mark Mothersbaugh calling Wes Anderson a twee moron. Then there's some kind of dance off contest. Herrmann and Hitchcock would have done it.

They list seven people in their Black Panther “For Your Consideration” section for Best Supporting Actor. I can actually see a case for Michael B. Jordan, who gave that movie a lot of whatever character complexity it had, but the rest is just silly. Sterling K. Brown is a good actor but the dude essentially had a

Chet and Quin seem to be back together for good. The only good news is that Jeremy has been banished to the land of Not Even Mentioned.

Well that makes the end of UnReal super-awkward. (I guess I should say Spoilers before that but, really, save yourself the aggravation of the dumped-on-Hulu final season: Quin more or less self-destructs the show, Rachel burns down the set, no one learns anything or pays for any of their actions.)

Why not a Sulu show?  Captain Sulu of the USS Excelsior.  I would accept either Takei or Cho (or, hell, hire both of them).  If you’re going to pander to me, really pander to me.

I bought a set of the Kurt Russell Disney movies at a big box store not that long ago for around $10. It's true that they haven't been easily available digitally as far as I know.

I'm trying to imagine the warning before The Black Cauldron. "Look, the studio was in a management crisis and we were desperately trying to do something different, so enjoy some of the animation and voice work and ignore how off the rails this goes." You could use the same intro for Chicken Little.

It's easy to forget what you learned / waiting for the thrill to return. Great song.

Springsteen, “State Trooper”:

I think Sharon Tate in Cult is probably part of that club.

Now I’m imagining a Ryan Murphy take on this and that actually sounds pretty awesome (get Lily Rabe to play Doris Day!).

Li'l Sebastian would never be near the Bad Place. It must have been his hologram.

“You did die young and unaccomplished." I love how this very compassionate show gets laughs out of point blank honesty.

Stop saying Manny's name. You'll summon him like Beetlejuice or Candyman.

Wow that Anastasia detour was the weirdest combination of graphic violence and downright goofy plotting. What a strange thing to introduce this late in the season and in such an offhand way (by the way, time travel might be possible and Myrtle loves the Romanovs so off you go). I’m also still massively confused by the

Honestly, the parts of the original show that got on my nerves were any of the teenage angst scenes around Shawn and then Kyle’s generally clueless approach to life.  I’m not sure I need a version with more super photogenic young people.

It’s hard to know what to say. I’m a gay man who got pretty screwed up by my particular religious upbringing and had a very hard time articulating my sexuality to my father (who is an infinitely better man than Mac’s dad). So that final dance was brutal (and my god, if you ever doubted De Vito can act watch his

It took them until 2014 to make Angela Lansbury a dame? She got her first Oscar nomination more than 70 years ago.

If you’re going to hire a celebrity, at least let them use their own speaking voice/accent or find them a character where their voice seems a natural fit (like how Tom Hanks’ put-upon American everydad works so well with Woody).
