Let effects be bad. If they’re bad, then fine, they’re bad. They should never be the breaking point in whether a film is worth seeing. Because the moment that they are, you’re no longer watching the film, you’re watching the effects. Read more

All I know is a “Babylon 5" reboot got caught up in the blast and, despite assurances the network is still interested in it, I’m assuming it’s gone gone too.
Yeah okay, but the complaint here is that these shows DON’T have an end. The network killed them before they could have a proper ending. So now they just stop.

He is British. He’s from Scotland, his family’s from Rwanda. He’s the 4th Scottish Doctor after McCoy, Tennant and Capaldi.
I’m hoping, possibly naively, the fact that Jo Martin played an incarnation of the Doctor before him and seems to have been very well-received, might mitigate that.
Wait, a new Quantum Leap series with an Asian heritage actor as the “everyman”?! Fucking YES!!! This is huge. Even if nobody watches it and it‘s cancelled mid-season (which is what I’m betting on), it’s still a big deal and I’ll be watching.
Even though you were wrong about the placement of the Wrath of Khan uniforms, you really pulled your bacon out of the fire with the DS9 uniforms ranking on top. Kudos.
Seasons 3 and 4 are a huge step down from Season 2, which is definitely the high water mark for Disco. While the Burn/Federation arc was interesting enough, the acting and character work are atrocious - how many minutes per episode can you have of people just staring at each other with their eyes welling with… Read more
Probably season 2 since it provides much of Pike’s backstory and a basis for what drives his motivations in this series, specifically his vision of a grim future for himself. Hopefully we’ll get a deep conversation or debate between Pike and Spock concerning his future incapacitated state.
The serialized storytelling doesn’t bother me. DS9 did it right, weaving an overall plot with standalones. But what I’m most hopeful for is a Trek that recaptures that sense of optimism and adventure that still recognizes humanity’s shortcomings (but shows we can overcome them).
Anson Mount absolutely crushed it as Pike during Discovery S2 and it’s arguably the best of Discovery’s 4 seasons. Watching Michelle Yeoh vamp it up doesn’t hurt either.
Why not? Pike was great in Discovery.
Oh dear Guardian of Forever I hope not. I don’t want to base my expectations on this based on Disco.
That’s the craziest part, it was never on the chopping block. It was one of the first early renewals despite a 21% year-over-year average viewer decline, and they had to negotiate a new contract specifically for Gustin.
Legends was the #8 highest rated show on the network and it’s dead.
Nancy Drew was #13, down 23% from… Read more
Flash ratings have been steadily dropping since S1 and hit series lows this season. The fans are bored with it and it’s pretty clear most of the actors want it to be done (and have been checked out for a while). Not only did it get renewed, but Grant Gustin is only contracted for 15 episodes next season, which they’re… Read more
All this. HOW does this guy keep getting jobs? I just looked at his writing credits on IMDB and there is nothing good there. Mission Impossible 3 and Alias probably at the top and even those had major highs and lows. Read more
Ah yes, the opposite of “waste not”. Why keep a perfectly good thing and just freshen it up when you can chuck it in a fucking landfill for no reason?
