In fairness, I don't think there is a single work by Abrams that doesn't make my eyes roll a bit. Trash like his Star Trek and Star Wars work is the most egregious, but I don't think I'm revising history to say that the guy has always been low on my totem pole.

I think it’s fair to say that this movie was great *because* of Whedon and not in spite of him. I know it’s in vogue to declare that the guy is an irredeemable monster and dismiss all of his strengths as a result, but he is an incredible talent who has produced a lot of top-tier work.

He looks like a little lad who loves berries and cream.

Thoroughly.

Probably not a popular opinion, but we watched this for a horror movie night and our crowd of friends universally hated it. It was just such a slow burn that the fire never really got lit.

Given that it releases on April 1st, is it possible that this is an elaborate prank on Marvel by Sony?

Honestly, it’s so hard to engage with this site now that I’m stuck in the greys again that I barely read articles. Bleh.

Unlike this week’s episode of Star Trek: Discovery, I loved the cornball antics of this episode. Yes, some of it was exceptionally hamfisted (Eradication Day and the Worldrazer were goofy as possible) but I felt like it was a solid callback to some of the nakedly black-and-white episodes of the past. This is, as Q put

I think I’ve finally had it with Star Trek: Discovery. This season has convinced me that the showrunners are never quite going to find an entertaining formula and that they’re married to their current recipe, which includes:

- Barely moving the plot along until the finale approaches, and then trying to cram in too much

What a relief, because people evil enough not to get vaccinated are definitely not duplicitous enough to lie about it.

I think last week was the show’s nadir despite being a phenomenal episode. By basically giving us an episode from Season 2.5 of The Mandalorian, it just highlighted how much weaker of a show that The Book of Boba Fett has been. The actors have been giving this their all from moment one, so I feel pretty bad that

No, no. I heard that he asked for "cat food that makes you immoral" and Spot grew a goatee.

35! My God, man. You're pushing 40! :P

I do kind of chuckle at 53 being “pushing 60", but your point stands.

I'm a little surprised that you left out Murray Gold's long run on Doctor Who, which produced dozens of memorable motifs for characters, monsters, and more on that show.

Black, best known for his work on Star Trek: Enterprise”

I think the easy answer is that he looks old because he chooses to, probably to taunt Picard with his mortality.

Fisher is as self-destructive as he is untalented.

This was a really touching tribute to some Star Trek greats and it was a good episode besides. I am a decidedly bigger fan of animated Trek than the live action shows in the current era. It's ironic that in animation, where the creators are most free to go wild on design, things feel more grounded and close to the
