The Big Issues feature is pretty much reserved for books that Sava thinks are great though. You do see more critical reviews in the Comics Panel.
One of the most frustrating things was the reveal of a huge labyrinth stretching out into the distance as you look out over a castle wall, which the game then forces you to bypass completely. I wanted to explore the maze, dammit!
I wish they'd reprint those Dini Detective trades. It sounds like it was a solid run.
Where does Doink fit in to this scale?
Okay, Harvey Bullock knows Batman's no-kill shtick, right? So why is Bats bothering to threaten to cut his throat with the sharp end of a batarang?
I guess the great thing about X-men is that there are so many titles that there's no way you can realistically follow everything. The sheer volume forces you to be a bit picky, and not just read any old shit just because it has an "X" on it.
Hatoful Boyfriend!
Glad to hear from someone else who likes both artists. I was surprised by how many people who loved Pulido were put off by Wimberley. They're different styles for sure, but as long as you're not expecting typical superhero cheescake art, I think they are both great fits for the book.
The best Assassin's Creed collectible, on the other hand, is sea shanties! Find a sea shanty somewhere on the map, and your dudes will sing you a new song as you sail around the seven seas. So rewarding.
Or we need one dedicated commentor to lead the discussion and collate votes on what to read next in the Big Issues discussion. Any takers?
Ultimate X-men was great to good from Millar through Bendis through BK Vaughan. Robert Kirkman's run was when it really shit the bed, for me. All that stuff about the Magician, and Nightcrawler being a creepy stalker/kidnapper. Yuck.
I had heard pretty good things about Messiah Complex but honestly it was just another messy crossover with no time to spotlight any individual characters, like watching a kid smash action figures together in a sandpit. I find most crossovers to be like this.
Got a question for y'all nerds: what's the comic that you're just a total sucker for? Like, you keep buying the books even when you kind of hate the writing and/or art just because you love the characters? Which comic are you most willing to lower your standards for?
I'm pretty sure they also ripped off Van Morrison's "Moonchance", David Bowie's "Let's Chance", and Bruce Springsteen's "Chancing in the Dark".
-NGG- ANNA KENDRICK?
How does this thing go? Your opinions are bad and you should feel bad? I think that's it.
I heard Dylan Horrocks speak recently, and it was pretty eye-opening to hear about how soul-crushing it was to work for DC, specifically working on big crossover events where editorial are pushing certain (grimdark) story angles on the writers. He apparently went from being completely thrilled to be able to write…
Of her adult fiction, The Summer Book and The True Deceiver are both excellent. The Summer Book is semi-autobiographical, about a grandmother and granddaughter living on a tiny island, and it is extremely beautiful.
Yeah, as far as we know, they're just gonna smash Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen into the 616 universe, cancel the Ultimate books, and clear up that Fury nonsense. Can anyone honestly see them calling their new ongoing universe "Battleworld" after this Secret Wars thing is done?
