My parents bought me a cashmere blend sweater from there in the early 2000s (like, 2001 or so), and I had that thing until about 2008, when it FINALLY stopped wearing so well, and I had gained enough weight it wasn’t fitting.

I know whenever I shop at J Crew in the back of my mind I’m always like “How will I look in this when I’m on the yacht?”
I’m not sure if it’s because people are poor, per se, but because no matter how much J.Crew wants to paint itself as a high end brand, it isn’t. And people aren’t willing to pay $450 for a sweater from a ‘suburban mall brand’ when if they were in the market for that, they’d head over to a designer boutique or Neiman’s.
