Sounds like you’re describing the typical “nice guy” (i.e. creepy try-hard shmuck). Those things are kind of desperate if you’re just trying to meet someone for the first time. Romantic gestures are fine if you’re sure they will be reciprocated (long term significant other). Otherwise, the advice in this thread holds

Yes, thank you! My wife is 29 and never read a comic book in her life. Loves these movies. I didn’t grow up reading comic books (but was into other similarly nerdy pursuits), and I love these movies. The audience is broad.

Subject to the caveats about the insidiousness of the PUA subculture people have already noted (i.e. they dress up those three basic concepts with a lot of dehumanizing bullshit), yes, exactly what you’ve said. I was thinking in reading this article that the basic advice your dad gave would give you holds true for

The idea of a “neg” is to be playful teasing that throws a woman off her game/lowers her confidence and thus makes her intrigued by the “PUA.” It also assumes some sort of baseline comfort (i.e. you don’t open with the neg, you use it once you’ve established yourself somewhat). Yup. Unfortunately, many young men/boys (even those that already have confidence and success with women) see male/female interaction as some kind of game (cheat codes, keeping score, etc.).

Howabout “patients”??

They can be phenomenal for those who attend.

That is not what the best evidence rule means/requires.

Doesn’t understand hearsay, the best evidence rule, criminal procedure, or grammar.

Well, if it makes you feel better, you can console yourself with the knowledge that neither HOFer won a Super Bowl.

I pretty regularly read through all the Gawker media blogs. That is definitely true about Jezebel, but I think the only blog where I can’t recall reading a troll post is io9. But I guess because spoilers for the Avengers don’t incite virulent racism ...

Yea, I lump the longtime commenters who are unapologetic bigots in with trolls, but they certainly are two different things.

Is there a way to ban these morons? I mean, I know they’ll just create new burners and whatnot, but I see some trolls with somewhat substantial comment histories, consisting entirely of malicious racist shit and wonder how they are allowed to keep commenting.

You sound like an awesome dog owner. However, I wouldn’t interpret comments from people with children as worrisome, in that they don’t take care of their kids to the degree that you take care of your dog. I would interpret it more as slightly judgmental in that, as parents, but not dog owners, they couldn’t imagine

That’s what I’m afraid of.

That illustration will haunt my dreams.

Well done!

It wasn’t his call.

I think it’s a weird self-selection going on based on the fact that only a small portion of Eagles and Jets fans actually know how to read and write.

Agreed! Probably because this is a less well traveled blog.
