By saying they should just “let” everyone leave “next time,” that implies that they were being detained THIS TIME, which flies in the face of your initial premise that the use of the words “have asked” indicates the fans were not being detained.

Yea, well, sure the words “have asked” don’t themselves imply detention, but just walking out (or attempting to) in that kind of situation is probably not a smart move. Hence, why you politely ask the question in order to clarify the situation and your rights.
And, I should add, the area around the arena is perfectly safe. I’ve been there a ton of times for games and concerts. Never once have I felt unsafe or seen anything remotely dangerous/unsavory.
The Prudential Center is in one of the nicer parts of Newark.
I love you so much.
Just some lawyer to lawyer “gallows” humor. I’m a commercial litigator with a small firm, and I mostly enjoy it. I occasionally have longings for criminal work (or any area where I could do more trial work), but I think it’s a “grass is always greener” thing. I did the big firm thing for about 5 years, wasn’t for me.…
Good definition. Yea, I am definitely glad I’m married. There’s times when I theoretically miss being single and going out all the time (to all hours), but really, I’d much rather just stay home with my wife and watch a movie in my pajamas or go out to a nice dinner in our downtown.
God bless you, I hope I make it that long.
Yea, and I think even if the other person doesn’t want more, they’re mad they didn’t get to pull the trigger first.
I see what you mean. I guess what I was saying before is that “it’s run its course” is about as close to “I’m not into it any more” as you can get without being cruel. But you are right, if you really unpack it, it’s kind of meaningless.
I also agree with what you’re saying about casual relationships. (Although the…
I mean, I guess “this has run its course” is not bullshit for the person saying it, right? It may seem like BS to the other person though. At a certain point (mid 20’s or so I guess), basically every “casual” relationship is entered into with the thought that it may go somewhere more serious, right? So there’s bound…
That’s certainly true. Usually my friends just give me an eye roll and move on. But you’re doing the Lord’s work here, putting me in my place.
Oh you’re way more cranky than I am. Don’t think your excessively snarky response to a throwaway comment on a subject of no particular social importance is any less cliched than the behavior of which you’re accusing me. I mean, at any point you could’ve said to yourself, “he made a dumb comment,” and just moved on…
So then I was “unfunny,” not a sanctimonious twat. You seem like a peach.
So, how long have you been practicing?
Unhinged, but with a real gift for the written word.
Legit question - what’s the best way to end it? I always sucked at that, whether the relationship was casual or not. But I’m especially curious as to how to end something that was casual.
Well, I guess “chilling out and gaining some perspective” wouldn’t be the point of going to music festivals. I’ve been, it was a joke. Chill out.
So, not a bad seat in the house unless you were there for the bulk of the events the arena actually hosted?
C’mon, this shouldn’t just be a nerd thing - if you’re going to make a “pithy” “pop culture” reference, you need to really commit to it.
