If you were paying close attention to the Yankees in the 90s and 00s — and I know no one was obliged to be doing that — it was clear a long time ago that Jeter has always been aloof, self-absorbed and calculating.
Yeah, and “impact” is not a verb. “Access” is not a verb. And on and on. Where ya been?
“As a girl from North Carolina, March Madness is one of the most important times of the year for me.”
This article and its comments skirt soooo close to the actual truth about O’Rourke, which is that he’s an empty vessel for all the incorporate hopes the Democratic electorate wants to pour into *somebody*.
Let me just pre-empt all the “sucks now,” “always sucked,” “sucked since ___” camp followers who are likely to flood into here. SNL is a treasure. It’s rightly an institution, and like any institution it has ups and downs and periods that are hard to compare with one another.
Fool me once. I’ve been watching this category and if I buy this thing, it will be $45 a month from now. :)

People who just spent six months with their hands in their pants over Saint Beto are now pontificating about a young politician whose superficial qualities might make him attractive to some voters in a way his policy views might not. Okay.
Yeah no. There are lots of ways to avoid being an asshole, but the math has to start somewhere, and my math starts with the amount the establishment is charging me for what I ate. The extra bit the government takes isn’t part of our transaction.
“By every measure of what I look for in a celebrity who speaks out on politics, you just did exactly the right thing. But I’m gonna be an asshole to you anyway because blah blah blah blah.
I know you’re just trolling to get Yankee fans to tell you to STFU, but I’d feel bad not to oblige you. I’m sorry I root for my hometown team. I’m sorry your team is small and meaningless. STFU.
On this one point, the bullshit Catch-22 is pretty undeniable: If the old, white, male senators were to question Ford, we’d get a rain of shit about how mean and bullying it was. Now that they’ve arranged for that not to happen, we get a rain of shit about how they’re cowards and hypocrites.
Call it what you like but it’s unacceptable. No part of New York is any part of New England, and vice versa. I’m writing this from the NYS perspective but I’m pretty sure the feeling is mutual.
This is a story of one bunch of people who make and sell a legal product, and another bunch of people who want and buy a legal product, and an author who doesn’t like any of them — so she thinks a lurid description of the legal activity’s lucrativeness is the same as having a point.
It’s nuts to watch an echo chamber like this explode with ad-hominem bullshit to attack someone for wanting a political candidate to participate in a debate.
It wasn’t “explained in the article” as much as the article attempted a sophistry that isn’t true. Racism can punch up, punch down, punch from whomever to whomever. Group-based prejudice is racism. Sometimes it has power behind it. Sometimes it just leaves people butthurt on Twitter. Still racism.
You are wrong.
Okay, I’ll be this guy: Tip no. 1 is don’t go to Disney World.
