Rental cars know when you’re treating them nicely. And they punish you for it.

The one time I tried to treat a rental car nicely, it betrayed me. I had a 2004 Nissan Xterra as a rental for a month. It was a bad vehicle in most metrics (13mpg in real life, uncomfortable, handled like garbage, and despite being large, had a surprisingly small interior) but I lived with it because hey, free car
