I love Dumas! You get the cache of reading Classic Literature, but they all end up being big revenge/adventure/romance novels - pure entertainment!

Anyone have any suggestions for dinner type meals that are easy on the stomach? Our small person threw up late last night. She’s cheery enough this morning, though it’s clear her tummy is still somewhat indifferent.
That woman on the left in blue print wrap dress (can’t tell if pregnant or odd angle/arm position) has the facial expression and body language of someone standing next to a jackal on a leash. Sure, there’s a zookeeper and they probably wouldn’t let random members of the public stand next to a jackal if it were…
In general, it’s hard as an adult with kids, careers, extended family obligations, and/or just life stuff (projects, vacations, dates with your spouse, just wanting some fucking downtime with no commitments, etc) to maintain friendships beyond messaging and the occasional phone call.
Yep. That’s exactly how my statement should be interpreted, it’s not that I’m not interested in this particular protagonist’s narrative which is heavily bound to american male adolescence but that I ONLY care about protagonists who’s stories exactly reflect mine in every way.
As much as I love watching Robert Downy Jr. be Tony Stark at his most condescending and paternalistic (and I really do love it), I’ve got no interest in seeing Spider Man for the simple fact that I am not, and have never been, a teenage boy.
Drinks and talking with a friend have helped immensely. Sometimes you just need some alcohol and to hear, “Oh no, you were right. He done ducked up.” before you can move forward.

Had a capital F Fight with the husband last night and it’s one of those rare occasions where I’m probably around 99% right. He’s spent the day not acknowledging it in the hope it will magically go away. I’ve been watching Beyonce bust car windows on repeat. Now in a cab on my way to meet a friend for drinks. Told him…
Stared for Aishwarya Rai.
The biological clock smashed me right over the head. I was pretty ambivalent in re: kids my whole life, then turned 28 and suddenly if there was a baby within 50 feet, I KNEW like I’d suddenly developed baby sonar.
This pretty well sums it up. Don’t know if I’m going to make it another 24, but today was a good day.
Same. I had it on my library hold list, but decided to buy it instead.
I am so sorry that you endured that and have to keep enduring monsters like this talking about it.
I’d like to see all of these legislatures get 30 stitches in their peritoneums and see how much work they get done 8 weeks later.
I read a lot in the tick of it because that is who I am. These were the resources I liked best/found the most helpful:
It wasn’t that long ago that we were in the “introduce food” phase. When we were there, our pediatrician told us that we should be introducing solids and making actual meals part of the routine starting around 6 months (so in the highchair with a plate of something 3 times a day) but, “food before 1 is just for fun.” …
That thing about parenthood being exhuasting is true. It really is. But it doesn’t have to be agony, however, you have to prioritize your own sleep in a way that’s very tough. You know how you set your kid’s bedtime, stick to a routine? You have to do that for yourself too. It sort of sucks, but you don’t want to…
I’m going to need to see some more concrete action of her actually doing something about the horrible, damaging policies of the Republican party before I’m cool with her joining the apparatus. Want to call yourself liberal and roll up your sleeves, have at it. But with regards to running as a democrat:
