Yeah I would read up the story of W1 and skip and play The Witcher 2 + 3. I like the story of the first one but the gameplay is terrible. The second game is a much better introduction to the series. If you’re feeling lazy just skip to 3. The last game is fantastic.

I’m happy to read it’s a decent adaptation. I lost interest in the series because the romance was really dumb and didn’t make any sense (more so than the usual anime trope) but my favorite parts were the manga making. The romance is the weakest part of the series.
