Yes, no government agency is even close to perfect. However(comma) Immigration and border patrol have been more or less prevented from doing their jobs adequately for the last several years by liberal government. So, while they may have known about a lot of these people, they likely had their hands tied.

Except for the whole ‘being in the country illegally’ thing. If you snuck into Germany, lived there for 5 years, but weren’t committing any additional crimes, they would still deport you for breaking the law and coming into their country ILLEGALLY. Same thing applies here.
