Judy Davis was astounding as Hedda Hopper. Though Jackie Hoffman's role was smaller, she did subtle things as Mamacita that were very effective, e.g., the restaurant scene in which the twins ask for steak. Hoffman's reaction was exactly what was required, not too much or too little.

While the portrayals of Crawford and Davis were outstanding, who could forget those of Mamacita and Hedda Hopper? I don't know the names of the actors who played the latter roles, but their work was indelible.

I reviewed the 1978 In Memoriam segment on YouTube. The segment was just under 5 minutes, with over 4 minutes of Marvin Hamlisch and Sammy Davis performing and ending with scant seconds "honoring" those who passed. The screen was rolling up as the last honoree, Charlie Chaplin, appeared. WTF?

Only now do I care about the Emmys.

Sarandon and Lange were brilliant.
