Conservatives often talk about things like “intersectionality” as though they were invented by aliens and are only discussed in the most hardcore communist college professors’ classrooms. The notion that suburban white women actually do often understand and speak this language seems to come as a shock to them. These

This is an excellent point that highlights how fixed this idea is in its place and time.

lol

The fact that almost 50% of people believe in ghosts means it’s not a “useless conspiracy theory” but rather something that can and should be engaged with on some level. Also, it’s the day before halloween and this is, ultimately, an entertainment blog. You are just digging yourself a deeper and deeper asshole.

The number of people who voluntarily spend their own time reading something and then voluntarily spend MORE of their own time writing a comment about how they thought reading the thing was a waste of time in the first place . . . is ASTOUNDING

Some previous article somewhere named them all. The only one I recall is Dennis Quaid, who dropped out before it went anywhere.

OR a businessperson who has at least run through a few other elected offices first and has SOME level of understanding of stuff like this. I do not mind businesspeople in politics per se but “I ran this auto body chain, now I want to be your senator” is ridiculous.

She could be the next Sheila Kuehl!

I seem to remember an article coming out right after she was first elected, on the topic of how she basically wears administrative assistant-type blouses and pencil skirts from Old Navy to work while other politicians we could name actually do show up to things in $2,500+ suits.

In my experience there is much more “here’s what all the politicians believe and here’s why mommy and daddy are voting for this one” on the left and much more “you’ll vote for XYZ and you’ll be proud of it” on the right.

I don’t get it

Don’t forget old and Christian

I gotta say... I’m not a big fan of judging people based on clothing, but those wool watchcaps are awfully popular among hipsters who are horrible, horrible people

This may not be helpful to anyone else, but I am lucky to live in a neighborhood with a lot of distilleries and there’s one nearby that makes WONDERFUL gin with local botanical ingredients etc... I am normally not a gin person at all but I really enjoy the cocktails at this place and I have given bottles to friends as

I don’t have anything to say about republicans in general, but the ones who end up running for political office are truly just sociopaths. That is the entire explanation. That might be true for a lot of democrats too but the republicans have really perfected the process of selecting for sociopathy in their candidates.

Not for nothing but this scene also reinforces the old trope of the harlot luring a man into a compromising situation, which only pays off if the man does something REALLY compromising.

Glad I’m not the only one who laughed out loud at that story. This news about Quibi is well timed.

You are right about all of this but honestly, there’s not going to be a material change in the doctrine of the church and in some ways it’s the wrong goal to focus on. The fact that church leaders have made the step of no longer vociferously condemning gay people, and of endorsing the concept that gay people deserve

LOL “Despite what the Bible says” is never a good way to start a sentence if you’re trying to establish your bona fides

Is that detail really worse than him referring to the head of a hugely important US corporation, a man he claimed he had just recently spoken to, as “some guy”?
