And even back then it was basically just Georgey’s not-so-subtle “this is an allegory for the fat arrogant politicians of this world” shtick.

The whole “training Jedi from birth” is seriously one of Lucas’ single worst ideas.

Why does Disney hate the Jedi order so much?  I miss bad guys being bad guys and good guys being good guys sometimes.

Furiosa is great: Another deeply enjoyable expression of director George Miller’s central cinematic thesis that sometimes you just need to make a movie about fucked-up people in fucked-up cars doing awesome, fucked-up shit. We don’t understand the people who refuse to go see it

My two cents, feel free to debate: I feel like the relatively tepid critical reception (I do not care about box office) of Pixar’s last several years’ worth of original films (as opposed to sequels) is because their blend of whimsy and deep emotion (with stellar writing, plotting, and casting) was pretty amazing for a

Hi: I’ll respond to that last paragraph.

As one of those “bad parents” of a trans youth, I say “Go fuck yourself” to this dipshit mediocre-at-best “actor.” It’s hard enough to help your child navigate their journey, not to mention worrying about the unprovoked hatred and violence coming their way in part due to ignorance and bigotry from this two-bit hack

Julia Louis-Dreyfus remains unchallenged as the Best Dreyfus(s).

it really had some of the worst trailers ever. noone knows how to market a movie anymore except maybe a24, and their recent billion dollar valuable seems to have completely broken them, too.

It reviewed well from people I trust but it looks soooo flimsy in the trailer, strongly getting the vibe of an over animated cgi mudfest. Much preferred my camping trip, thank you.

The easiest way to look at it is that each movie after the first one is a story told about Max by succeeding generations.  Road Warrior is framed as a memory of the Feral Kid, Thunderdome ends with Savannah telling the story, Fury Road ends with a quote from the History Man as if we’ve been told a piece of “history,”

Not really. That isn’t at all the plot of the first film. It’s roughly the second half of the second one, the last 20 minutes of the third one, pretty much all of Fury Road, and back to none of this one.

I was afraid of this, having seen Furiosa at 9 pm last night in a theater with 3 other people in it.

And having now seen it, I don’t expect that to improve. Frankly I’m surprised by the warmth of the reviews. It’s... fine? But there’s nothing to hook new fans. It doesn’t offer any story you haven’t seen before. It

I was too. I even got my son into the original series. I also loved the holiday specials. The Christmas one is my favorite. Jon’s grandma is one of my favorite characters from the series. It was funny, wasn’t too long, and had a touching moment when the grandmother reminisced about her late husband with Garfield and

Garfield and Friends was pretty solid as cartoons go.

This is what happens when no one cares about the IP. Garfield is great not when you service his most basic and well-known character aspects, but when he’s allowed to be toxic and cynical, yet relatable and thoughtful. He is a low consequences bully who will steal food, mail a kitten he finds annoying to Abu Dhabi,

I know, he likes to nap.  They shouldn’t have done that 🤔

so you’re saying just a four-minute ovation at cannes

I love King of the Hill but I wouldn’t have brought it back, given I think it went out on a high and given the deaths of Brittany Murphy (and latterly, Johnny Hardwick in particular). I see Bob’s Burgers as King of the Hill’s spiritual successor and I wonder if the new KotH can be that good.

I’m intrigued that Hardwick was able to record some episodes before his death, so that means Dale will be a part of the revival. Still, while there’s plenty of talented VAs out there, I’m just not sure if it will be successful without him. Go back and watch the series and really pay attention to just how vital Dale
