Babylon 5 is probably the most interesting scifi-show of the nineties, reacting to Star Trek, anticipating future trends in tv, and being so obviously a compromise between unbridled ambition and very low budget. The mistake is to presume its qualities are all down to JMS, a mistake JMS encouraged.
Most of his career

Like all bullies he can’t stand that his abuse isn’t having the intended effect. Until he gets distracted he’s going to go after Omar, because the fact that she’s simply shrugging it off and carrying on with her job is maddening to him.
She’s everything he hates: a smart, immigrant, muslim, woman of colour, who is

No, Lindsey’s objections to Trump were just aesthetic. He was against Trump because Trump could get away with being as nakedly awful as he wished he could be. But since he realised that there are no consequences for Trump’s behaviour, he has enthusiastically embraced his own awfulness. This is who he always was.

Biden’s supporters should ask themselves why against a stage of people they all presumable consider unelectable, he couldn’t do better than that.

I’ve lived here for almost ten years, and you haven’t made a single argument to refute anything I actually said.

I didn’t say I was advocating for pure democracy. I’m fine with constitutional monarchies.

Actually, all it takes is not being an American to see how dysfunctional this country’s form of government is.

Ultimately the Supreme court should at the very least have its authority curtailed. It’s a deeply undemocratic institution, that has no place in a functioning society. Any progress that has come out of it is a testament to how fundamentally warped the design of this country’s institutions are.
Get rid of the senate and

Trump will never appreciate his children, he resents them for living off what he built.

The past ten years have definitely seen a marked increase in pushing this idealised male body image. Marvel was at the forefront of it, but it’s everywhere in our culture right now.
Right now our culture is very strongly saying men aren’t allowed to love their bodies unless they look a certain way.

Look at plates, cups and glasses in vintage shops. It’s not just diets that have changed, we get served bigger portions too.
We walk a lot less than we ever did, and have less time to prepare our own food.

The reason we’re fatter than we used to be is consumerism and capitalism. Our bodies are worth more to the economy

Yeah, I think a lot of us men have these self images and ideas about what should be considered attractive and ideal bodies (and how far we are from that), that have no bearing on how our partners actually feel?

The pah-wraiths were also wormhole aliens.

Turns out avoiding the arrows was all that was needed. A novel strategy.

This is the problem with having a high budget. If all you can afford is to put your actors in some rooms, you have to actually write something interesting. If you can just do whatever you want on the screen, having some people talk to each other seems less interesting.
Which is how the show’s most interesting ‘villain’

Yep, Danaerys had endured a lot worse than some people being more enthusiastic about the guy they had known for years than her. This descent into indiscriminate carnage makes her seem brittle, and feels like a disservice to her character. Instead of her story being one of overcoming the cycles of violence and abuse

Hahahahaha, what a mess.

Yeah, but it’s peanuts compared to a massive battle.

I mean the show had to justify any number of contortions for why Danaerys wouldn’t have taken out the Red Keep with her (three) dragons the moment she arrived at Dragonstone.
She could have gotten rid of Cersei in one fell swoop without massive loss of life, declared herself the new queen, with the backing of the

Even Cersei in the show was upbraided for not being as smart as she thinks she is. It feels to me that the show used to have Cersei in the column of characters the viewers should care about; and as such she was given both victories and losses. She was vicious, petty, and not to be underestimated, but a human being who
