Summary: The key reason why we are able to learn better by handwritting...

There are various stages to a conversation. They start with small talk (meaningless subjects) and progress to big talk(meaningful subjects). The trouble is getting out in the middle of big talk, so my trick is to lead the conversation back to small talk which gives both parties a sense of wind down.

Its much more valuable to “know how” NOT “know that”.

Since life is based on weekly cycles, I usually need week to see if the habit will work for me. Therefore once I know I can maintain it for a week I go for another 9 to make it stick.

This is very good advise. I keep a log of any mistakes or wrong decisions I have made and solutions on how to avoid them in the future. It helps me cope with making the mistake as well as realize the growth as a result.

If they came up with a scheme like that they can take over managing the family finances and pay me in monopoly money.

I found the best way to teach my kids about productivity and finance is to implement a family currency using monopoly money. For example, they get paid for doing various tasks around the house, getting top scores on Lumosity or just being innovative. This allows them to make purchases from each other, buy minutes on

I created a simple habit building app after reading one of James Clear’s articles. Before starting the “self-development” I make sure I can commit 66 days to it. Following this rule has helped me develop many habits by giving me a clear finish line of how long to maintain the momentum in order to build a habit.

Even without taking risks, breaking the patterns of everyday life can have similar advantages.

Sounds like a good storyline for a AA commercial.

I think the best way to approach minimalist living is include it in things you use everyday in order to build a minimalist habit. For example, minimalist fridge or minimalist purse or minimalist desk. Don’t start minimalizing your life until you’ve learned how to be a minimalist on the minimal part of it.

Unfortunately most people live by the “close enough” margin. So increasing the budget might just make them increase the “close enough” margin as well.

To me, minimalism is the philosophy of owning what you use on a regular basis and not much else ... You may get a temporary moment of happiness every time you buy something, but the feeling soon goes away.

You are about the get a nasty email from the creators of “What not to wear”

To tear down those cabinets, you'll need a cordless drill, hammer, pliers, flat bar, utility knife, wrecking bar, screwdriver, sledgehammer, and recip saw

I think the title should say "This checklist makes sure your last meeting was a productive one", because the only time you can conclude whether a meeting was productive is during a follow up meeting.

For myself the best way to fight "anxiety" is to "compulsively" plan, schedule and prepare for whatever is causing it.
