I am very much the target audience for this and I count the Lucas games as some of the best games ever made... but I think I'm done with nostalgia for a while.

Tina does most of the assigning. It's a combination of a writer's familiarity with a game, series or genre (we prefer that they have some familiarity), their availability (writers usually have to play their review games after hours, believe it or not), and even, at times, where a copy shows up (though more and more

Sold. Yes, No and Not Yet were not enough. So allow me to introduce our newest rating: Hmmmm

I'd like to see the system expand with more passive-aggressive entries like "I Guess" and "Whatever" just to drive publishers crazy.

Would you guys ever take it a step further and explore the dynamic of buying vs playing? There are a lot of games worth experiencing that maybe aren't worth buying(aka rent them or borrow them).

We typically review games using review copies sent to us by developers or publishers. Sometimes we pay for the games ourselves. Publishers that provide us pre-release copies of games will often include some stipulations about when the review can run and what spoilers or other details they'd prefer a review to exclude.

PSA: Counsellor and Councilor are two different professions!

It seems rather floppy. And will get floppier, I bet. T_T

Now playing

Former Kotaku reporter Owen Good made his debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, in the funniest possible way. We're all so proud, Owen!

Considering they cut Ice Climbers due to technical limitations, I think that 8 player will never be possible on the DS.

An 8 player smash on the 3ds screen would almost guarantee every player would be the size of a spec of dust for the majority of the game...

I made an account just to inform everyone, It is 60GB because of all the languages it comes with, along with uncompressed cutscenes. This game also reanimated the mouths to mach the lip sync in japanese and english, so its basically double all of the cutscenes. That's all :)

For the record: I am embedded in Pokemon, Smash Bros., Fallout and Dota. So, if you have cool stories of things players are doing interesting things in these franchises, don't hesitate to email me (patricia at kotaku dot com).
