more of... fly the B-2 over the SCS bases and drop a huge load a pamphlets saying “Uncle Sam Was Here...... and you didn’t catch him”

Glad we had a hidden dagger in case the carrot and stick method of dealing with Iran didn’t work. Even happier that the carrot was appealing enough to get Iran to work with the US and UN.

Congratulations on # COTD! Since $kycog has yet to grace you with a reward I shall fill in instead.

Some turks probably are, as are some Saudis, some Iraqis, some Jardanians, some Israelis, some Americans etc. The actions of part of their populace doesn’t mean the support of a countries government. No nation will support ISIS because it represents a loss of their own sovernighty.

How the hell do all these air breathing turbines actually work in space?

So now that we’ve got some boots (not enough boots but at least SOME boots) on the ground, how open are we in are offensive initiatives? I assume Iraq has given us permission to operate freely in their country but what about Syria? Since al-Assad is still the de-jure ruler of Syria will he let an American military

Looks like it was screen capped from Sim City.

Well.....you have navigated away from Jalopnik proper. Jalopnik is a whole host of subtopics all shared under the banner of “Jalopnik” . When you clicked the link to come here and whine you have strayed out of “everything jalopnik land” and wandered into “military hardware land”. If you want car only stuff I suggest:

yet remarkably the same. Kinda amazing how engineers seperately find similar solutions to the same problems.

Jalops be like “PART IT OUT!”

All of the U.S’s military engagements over the last... 30 years... haven’t been what the B-52 was designed to do. Put a WHOLE LOT of ordinance in the general area of a target. The U.S. has had no need for carpet bombing so the B-52’s flight hours remain very low useage per year. What the U.S. HAS been doing in

Well the B-52 airframe was designed to last 33-37,000 flight hours with the “oldest” B-52 hving approx 21,000 hours on it. So even with that there are 10,000 flight hours left. The B-52 fleet averages 380 flight hours per airframe per year. As it stands the B-52 is expected to remain in active operation until 2044.

I’m surprised it doesn’t have LERX’s molded into a chine line on the nose, and a baffled jet air intake. If they would have made it look like a sexy stealth 5th gen air frame then MAYBE the USAF woulda gone for it. And you know maybe it would drastically reduce the front radar cross section.

kinda like the DSI F-16

Oh good. I see the factory finally shipped my mother-in-laws dildo.

Got any credible sources to back that up? And which of China’s J series do you mean?
J-7 a reverse engineered Mig-21F?
J-8 also reverse engineered Mig
J-10 4th gen not low observable comparable to F-16, Saab Gripen, Rafale and Typhoons
J-11 a Su-27 in Chinese colors.
J-16 also a Su-30 in Chinese colors
J-20 - they have

Took me forever to remember what this thing reminded me of. For some reason it looks like a modern Hadley Page Victor B2

drag that sucker to the back yard and apply for an abandoned vehicle permit. 3 months later PROFIT!

Apparently so....what did I miss?

That’s not a photograph. That’s a generic computer render Photoshoped into a high altitude photograph of the Earth. That would take me maybe 30 minutes to do on my computer

At this point what would it take to get the military-industrial-political complex to admit this was a bad idea from the get go? Is it so well past the point of salvation that nothing will ever get to them to say “ we did this wrong from the start, we’ve learned from our mistakes and will will be better next go around”
