I did get the impression what killed the toys was having all the benefits from them available as much cheaper DLC. I wonder if they see it as worth going forward just as a game product because it at least made money in that respect, or something.

How is it that nobody else has ever found this in decades? Has anyone else obtained another copy and made their own photos?

The most accurate comparison I think: This plays basically like a modern Barcode Battler game.

Which does indeed lose a good deal of its novelty without the physical cards (the “barcodes” in this case), but still good light fun if your expectations are in the right place.
