You’re not wrong, but it also makes sense that if you ask a bunch of people for help in a scary situation, they are naturally going to be curious about the resolution. They’re not OWED an explanation, but it’s also not wrong to want to let the people who got involved and/or invested know more.
The only possible attempt at fixing this would be to vote with our dollars - give extra support to anyone who does not govel before the Chinese government and/or don’t spend money on companies that show they are willing to compromise right and wrong just to earn a buck, and politely tell them why you are/are not…
Yeah - it’s not like the store’s reasoning is “black people steal, so we lock up those products.” It’s just “those products get stolen the most, so we lock them up.” The demographics of who is doing the stealing don’t matter.
I used to work in a comic book store that sold Pokemon cards, and the parents made me despise all things Pokemon. Unlike many stores, we didn’t price gouge and we had a limit on how many cards a customer could buy per day so that the first customer wouldn’t just buy all of them and leave everyone else empty-handed.…
I went full Paragon, but I ALWAYS push that guy out the window. Impossible to resist, he’s just SOOO asking for it.
I’m ridiculously OCD about trying to play through my backlog chronologically. I CAN go out of order, like if friends want to play a game or if I really just feel like playing a certain game, but all things being equal, I make myself play the oldest games first. That would only really be a problem if I didn’t enjoy it,…
Synthesis. Jump right to a post-singularity paradise? Yes, please! Everyone becomes superhuman (or super-whatever), nobody else has to die... Sure, you’re “forcing” a “fundamental change” but what does everyone think the other two are? Forcing a fundamental change from “alive” to “dead” or from “free will” to…
That just means “wild” and “lacuna” will be the next words “banned” by people who continue to remain ignorant about how words work.
I only ever got used to playing with an inverted x-axis on the Star Wars arcade game port to my old Atari - the y-axis wasn’t inverted and there was no option to change it, so I flipped the controller over and got used to the left vs. right difference more easily than I could the up vs. down. It worked - I could play…
But it’s not actually “stealing” - it’s a different crime. You could feel that copyright violation is AS BAD a crime or even worse, but they are two distinctly different things. If I steal something from you, you no longer have it. If I copy something from you, like your TV, you can still watch TV because nothing…
