Aside from hunting, etc., it’s mostly one part irrational fear and one part power fantasy. It’s not even particularly practical in an urban environment in >99% of situations that aren’t action movies.

Ha. Yes. But as a counterpoint I’m answering from Central Texas, and the worst roads are without a doubt in the upper Midwest (where I’ve also lived) because ice.

I think we actually agree on this.

Help me understand how you’ll ever catch someone, when every time they run you have to stop. Presumably you would also not allow for search warrants? Because people die during those to. In which case, shouldn’t we just get rid of all the rules and laws and make it sort of like the purge?

They don’t like filling out unnecessary paper work, so if they say go, you go.

If you need a car right now, why not score a deal on a late model used car vs over paying for something new?

Same. I’m actually in the market for this type of vehicle, and the CRV is the only one I have absolutely no questions about. It’s like a Camry. It’s what I would order if I was forced to choose a car sight unseen.  I know it would be fine.

Very common down here. On the other side of town is Round Rock, Honda, Round Rock Toyota, and Round Rock Hyundai. All owned by the same folks. Separate showrooms and service centers, but adjacent lots, and a salesperson from one will show you cars on the other lots. I.e., If I want to look at a Pilot, a Highlander,

Stewart wasn’t ‘ignoring his influence’ to get away with shitty behaviour.

I wouldn’t usually mention them in the same sentence, bit it’s comparable because it’s an undeniably influential person shrugging off their influence, whether it’s Rogan (“I’m not a doctor”) or Stewart (“I’m just a comedian”).

He, and others like him, need to understand that he has influence *because* he has viewers.  I loved John Stewart on the Daily Show, but it was BS when he shrugged his influence off, too.

A-freakin’-men. Bonus points for basic A/V controls on the steering wheel.

Also reminds me of a Car Talk episode where a guy was asking if an ex-police-interceptor Mustang would be OK for his teenager to drive. They laughed and said it would basically be attempted murder.

I know it’s sometimes easier said than done sometimes, but as a general rule:

Then look at:

1) Opened “article.”

Good question, but difficult to answer because there are still more variables to consider.

Like I said, you’re not wrong. And it’s a fascinating what-if.
