The Switch is really good, but I’d have to say the 3DS if only because it is/was more mobile. Huge difference in battery life. Never worried about whether the 3DS would last an entire flight. I had an OG Game Boy and a few since then, and they were all great. Choosing the 3DS because it was the most recent evolution

But but but ... where will I sit on a bench and look at my phone for 20 minutes?

Can confirm.  Grew up in Iowa.  Zero shark encounters.

Good god. All those steps and words to replace, “Hand a disk to your kid/friend.”

tl;dr — Two multibillion dollar companies are arguing. One of them us trying to paint this as Akron v Duke, but it’s straight Celtics v Lakers: two franchises with lots of rings fighting over one more. It’s a classic Goliath v Goliath matchup to see who gets to keep the insane amount of money they make from selling

I’ve been using Google Photos for quite a while. Switched from Flickr when they changed it a few years back. Google Photos backup happens in the background, and it allows unlimited photos, so I don’t need to pay for more storage. The limited resolution of 16MP is more pixels than my iPhone XR camera even has in the

Didn’t care? Didn’t know? Truth is if you’re rich enough it doesn’t matter which.

Totally. I definitely fall outside the audience of this song, and no, I don’t have a different opinion when guys do similar things in songs. But I’m not against it. It’s just not for me — nor does it need to be.

Honestly, if she acted in self defense, good for her.

NextDoor is like HOAs in general. It’s a fine idea in theory, I guess, but all it takes is a couple uppity assholes to ruin it for everyone. And there are always a couple uppity assholes.

In the same vein: I’d still be on FB if my experience was limited to friends and family like it used to be. It’s a fine and reliable platform for what my family is up to based on what my family says they’re up to. That’s why I signed up in the first place. I wish it was still that.

It’s also preaching to the choir.

BS in every direction.

It’s important to remember this is about the cost of maintenance, not directly the reliability of the cars. There is some correlation, but it’s confounded by the price and availability of parts. The exact same repair could cost considerably more on a BMW than on a Camry due to the OEM market alone.

A couple “mindset” tips based on some comments I hear about taking vacation/travel photos. Neither of these is Wrong^tm, and the people who say them are generally sincere and mean well, but I think they over-correct a bit. I offer not so much a correction as a more generalized tip.

Nope.

Good questions. Long time photographer. I’ve got all that fancy equipment, but I don’t often travel with it. Before I answer directly, an aside:

What people don’t get is that these products (bleach, ammonia, alcohol, ...) are so effective because they destroy everything. Bacteria don’t become resistant to rubbing alcohol or bleach because they can’t evolve a resistance to full cellular disruption any more than humans can develop an immunity to flamethrowers.

Right on. Photography is about capturing light, and an interchangeable lens camera that allows full manual control gives you maximum control over how you capture that light.

[Note: I’m counting any pro/enthusiast interchangeable lens camera as a ‘DSLR’ for this discussion. I know many are mirrorless, and so by definition not SLR, but it’s a difference without a distinction in this context.]
