This isn’t Batman vs Superman, Genndy Tartakovsky is NOT Zach Snyder. Hell, Tartakovsky is a former in between artist for Batman: TAS, if anyone knows how to do dark and do it well it’s him.

Plenty of stuff isn’t dark and gritty. Seems more an issue of some people complaining every time something happens to be dark and gritty. And with Samurai Jack, it makes sense that the final showdown between him and Aku would have a darker edge than the rest of the series.
