I will usually drop a series because of too much fanservice. Using fanservice to keep viewer retention is a sign of weak writing.

Don’t watch the anime, but Fairy Tail’s manga is full of fan service. I love that manga, awesome, complicated characters, cool fights, cool characters. It’s all fun, until fan service pops up, almost every chapter.... it’s annoying, because it’s unnecessary, and irrelevant to the story.
