I took it as they ran the checks, they were bad, the kid left without the car and said he would be back. It never said he drove the car off the lot plus the charge says Criminal Attempt Theft by Deception.

If I was in his situation, I'd be going down the same path. Trying to sell it, pay off the taxes, and still put a bunch of money in my pocket.
