Most “grown ups” can count past one. There was only one non-writer in my post.

By the way, Mozart wrote music.

A) Thanks. I didn’t know that. I really love Michaelangelo’s various novels. They’re all creative people that worked on a deadline. They produced. Writers aren’t any different from musicians, sculptors, or even chefs. Their job is to create something. If you know you can’t meet a deadline, as Martin admits he can’t,

But Doctor Who has a built in mechanism to avoid escalating costs for the cast - they just get a new Doctor and companion. That’s not an option here.

No one gives a shit about his theatre. People comment about lots of things. It doesn’t mean they actually care.

“Reek, Reek, it rhymes with I blew another fucking deadline.”

I’ve long been convinced that when Martin abandoned the 5 year gap and went in a different direction he lost sight of the whole thing. It’s been all downhill since that decision.

Taste may be subjective, but I can objectively say that if anyone judged the last two books to be good then they have shitty taste in books. You’re right. The last two books, especially the last one, sucked bad.

“Diehard fans” in this case being synonymous with people that love the series no matter how shitty it gets. To normal fans that don’t jizz on the cover when they see it, the last two books sucked.

Then why is he crying on the internet about how depressed he is that he let everyone down for? He blew it (again) and knows it. You have no reason to take a different view than even Martin does.

Martin’s already done that because the last two books in this series are pure shit.

Tell that to Dickens, Dumas, Mozart, Michaelangelo, etc. who worked with a deadline and got shit done regularly, and well. Martin’s a fuck up, plain and simple. Instead of working on the book, he’s running a goddam movie theatre, of all things.

He writes in his blog that he agreed to deliver by Halloween, fucked that up, then agreed to deliver by year end and fucked that up too. You can have oral contracts in the US as well a written ones.

No series runs 10 years. None. Seinfeld? No. Friends? No. Why? Because the costs of doing a series that long is prohibitive. The only series that do run that long are purely formulaic stories (Law and Order, CSI, etc.) where you can just plug in a new character and do the same formula.

And every time you negotiate (and they’re not going to sign 2 year deals, they’re going to sign 1 year deals because that gives them the most leverage) the price goes up. Clark and Harrington can (and have) made major films already. They’re not going to tank their career to make this series. You don’t have a clue what

When it comes to his Hugo hissy fit, I bet a decent amount of traffic to his site was NOT there to support Martin. I bet they were there from Vox Day, Correira, and the other idiot (the guy that was in the military whose name I can’t remember) that was running the Sad Puppies to troll Martin. Those clowns (who are,

He’s not “connecting with fans”. It’s not a blog intended to connect with anyone. It’s more or less a travel journal, NFL diary, and a weird running commentary on the Hugos. He does not do anything on that blog but gaze at his navel. It’s just a terrible, terrible, terrible move on his part. Who cares what movie he’s

The series has no one in knots. Most people are perfectly happy to let HBO finish it. Fuck Martin. If he’d rather be the manager of a dipshit movie theater, let him.

You’re going to get it late and it’s going to suck. Just like the last two.

The publisher doesn’t have much of a choice, does it? I highly doubt they’re “OK” with Martin fucking up again but there’s not much they can do about it.
