And, besides, if we stop holding women responsible for men’s bad behavior, we might have to start holding men responsible and that seems complicated and might involve making root changes to our society that mean we can’t just do what we want.

I mean, the judge in the Stanford swimmer rape judge let the culprit off easy. That’s why they’re judges – they get quite a bit of leeway in sentencing (leeway that has legal bounds but is still largely subjective).

I always thought that there is a subset of people who go into teaching because they are authoritarians who like demanding respect from people who are subordinate to them.

As a history teacher in high school, I think this kid’s letter is the visual representation of awesome. At nine he is coherent, asking legitimate questions and pointing out problems. The real problem is the teacher’s dismissive comment that didn’t actually say anything. The teacher is disappointed? Maybe they should…

She also expressed her feelings to him the next day. He heard her out and apologized. I see no reason to doubt the sincerity of his apology. His statement on the matter affirms that he took her words to heart.

This was a bad date. She had a horrible date with a clueless guy who thought he was being sexy and hot. She was made to feel uncomfortable, and it wasn’t right.

The money must have been good. Some parents don’t need to know more than that.
