right. you are probably more on the money anyway, describing it as a misogynistic expression of power rather than an earnest attempt to get laid.

TPM does not work.

it's the writing AND the directing. whoever those two people were, they should probably be criticized in some way on the internet!

i like the film but if Coming to America is about immigration, then so is Crocodile Dundee and Starman.

oh god i forgot about all the boba fett bullshit. i remember those movies sucking, but it's amazing how much suck i've forgotten.

i do recommend the First Contact commentary track with Frakes. he kinda sounds like he's just chilling out with a stiff drink reminiscing about making the movie, telling little anecdotes. it's not mind blowing but it's very comfortable.

it was 1999. buying tickets online basically made you a hacker.

hahaha ughhhh

yeah, that's because Trek is usually trying to be "about" something. when it fails, it's usually because it's too earnest or on the nose, despite being a theme or philosophy you can at least in theory appreciate. the Star Wars prequels failed because they were vapid, plastic shells with nothing at all at their core.

hey uh, you got some dried shaving cream or something caked on the side of your face there ….

i know what you mean, but for me i was still in denial for like a couple weeks after i saw it. i had built it up so much in my mind, i couldn't wrap my head around it sucking. it took a little time to process.

i was 22 when it came out. i went to see it on opening night, and even then there were already rumors that it kind of sucked. me and my 6 or so friends came out of it basically saying "ehhh, it wasn't as bad as i heard … the pod racing was exciting, wasn't it? was it? … i think i kind of liked it? … oh god Jar Jar

honestly the back to the future trilogy is way better, not that it's the apex of film or anything, it's just better acted, funnier, less hokey, and more coherent.

greg proops? more like greg … uh … man i can't think of a clever play on "proops". i got nothing.

i dunno. is being hit by flaming shit really a thousand times worse than being hit by regular shit? it seems subjective.

Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Sam Jackson, Natalie Portman, Christopher Lee … these people also sucked really badly in the prequels. with that much talent all acting like idiots, i think it's safe to place the blame elsewhere.

there a shitload of really good actors in the prequels, and they all performed as poorly as Jake. i think it's safe to say acting chops were not the issue.

actually that plot thread was never followed up on.

look he's right about Jake Lloyd, but the prequels really were fucking awful. Lucas deserves all the scorn there is.

haha, yeah.
