Has Kotaku written about this dissonance? If not, I think it'd be a really great idea to explore in depth. What games get it right? What games miss the mark? Do developers really have a choice? Will people buy a game in which violence is not the primary progression device?

Speaking of borderlands, I wish you could skip the first few playthroughs if you wanted to. I only have so much time to play games and I wish I could play at the difficulty I want rather than grind through the game two or three times before getting to the "meat" of the game.

Wouldn't charging them with a "terrorism hoax" mean that they have to prove that the protesters intended the glitter to look like some sort of biochemical weapon? Which makes the delivery method seem odd (unfurling the banner). Who would store a chemical weapon that way? This is just going to get tossed out at court

I'd argue that part of the point *is* at least some trial and error. No, not all of those things are "intuitive", but they all can be figured out quite easily for most players. There will always be a few people who just really don't get it, but thankfully we do not design our games around the people that are that

I think this is the big hole in our copyright law right now. As far as I'm aware, it doesn't seem to handle these sorts of multiple party copyright systems very well. If a game licensed pop music to use in it's game, but then that gets put in a Let's Play, who gets to decide if that's ok? The game company? The music

Honestly YouTube is handling this poorly (lol understatement), but also I'd believe that legally speaking the music people would have a claim to their music being in let's plays. Technically the game publisher does not have the right to allow Let's Plays to include music that they only licensed for their game. Which

A lot of the copyright claims being made are auto-generated by youtube and not actually done by the IP owners. Youtube is effectively shutting down videos on their behalf without their consent. It's caused them a lot of headaches as they've had to devote time and resources to whitelist those affected by it and it's

Slightly off topic, but when are we expecting a consumer version of Oculus Rift? 2014? 2015? Later?

Some desktop wifi adapters have external antennas. Could be that.

Thanks for linking those videos. Honestly the above video did little to sell me on the series, but these are much better. The combat actually look interesting. I'll have to keep this game in mind.

So my two choices are to say I'm not an addict, but really be one in denial. Or to say I'm an addict. Everyone's an addict! Yay!

The problem with that logic is that millions of guns are already out in the wild in the US. Short of confiscating the guns of everyone, there's no way stopping the sale of new guns would slow gun violence.

Well for one, you said "the nicest PC", not just a nice or decent PC. So I'm picturing a quad-GPU monster machine. But even then I don't think we have a clear idea of what can or cannot be done on current tech.

The nicest PC can do quite a lot more than a 360 or PS3. They are after all 7-8 years old now. And they weren't exactly cutting edge when released either. I think it's fair to say that proper physics could've been applied to *much* more if GTA V had been built to run on PC's. That being said, GTA V took 5 years to

I was hoping that Starbound would've taken a smarter approach to this, but it appears to be much the same. Maybe someone will create a mod to address these issues.

This is what I don't understand. At least on PSN, I thought having a publisher was no longer required? Why not just re-add it yourself?

Yes, but it is my understanding that many programs simply break when you set the text size to be too high. Some of it is because programmers are lazy, but I also doubt Windows makes it easy for programmers to create a scalable UI.

As far as I'm aware "gin" does not stand for anything. Many people believe "gif" is pronounced with a hard G because the word graphics (from Graphics Interchange Format) has a hard G.

Plans indicated that there are race specific armors that unlock various abilities (such as slow fall for avians). These can be unlocked by other races too, but not until much later in the game.

This is pretty much my thought. I've actually been anxiously following development for a year and a half, but I don't want to play the beta. If I'm honest with myself the gameplay will only keep me interested for so long. I want that whole time to be spent on a finished product. Not a buggy beta that incremental gets
