Dwarf Fortress!

Ugh. This. If they're going to insist on blaming video games at least point out the fact that the parents ignored clear warnings about it's content.

Well for one thing you didn't shoot your grandma in the head, so either a) your parents correctly assumed you could handle playing such a violent video game without long term ill-effects or b) they were just lucky that you didn't wind up killing someone.

Agreed. This feels like a sale off the $99 MSRP, not a permanent price drop. Honestly they need to slash their prices in half and then offer a 64gb card as well.

At least we know some people will survive the rise of Skynet. Can't shoot what you can't see!

I remember. It's just that they make it appear as if the portal is out in the middle of the pacific somewhere, but they only engage the kaiju ~2-5 miles off shore. By that point there is severe risk of them entering the city (which they did).

First off, let me say that I enjoyed Pacific Rim despite whatever flaws I thought it might have. I'm usually pretty good at just enjoying movies in the moment and not letting my "Well that wouldn't really have worked.." get in the way of that.

That kinda falls apart when they apparently wait for the Kaiju to approach cities before engaging. Using the sword in the middle of the ocean > fisticuffs in the middle of a crowded city. And even in a city it seems like a better idea to end the fight quickly rather than have them knock over yet another building.

Seen them, yes. Haven't seen one for PC though (Or any game that would support simultaneous analogue movement + mouse aiming). I've also heard that they're relatively glitchy on PS3. Didn't seem like a viable solution, though I'll admit I've never delved a great deal into researching them either.

Yep. Someone needs to coin a term for this. MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) really doesn't fit. Co-op generally refers to 2-4 players. This sort of in-between game genre is (IMO) going to be huge this generation.

Take what I say with a grain of salt. It's only my speculation based on what I've seen of the game. It is by no means a fact.

I am probably missing the point, but at least for me I find speed reading takes all the joy out of reading. I like to take my time on my books and give myself the opportunity to fully understand what they're telling me. Certain books I have to force myself to put down for awhile so that I can ruminate on what I've

Agreed. I haven't ever played an FPS where movement was complex enough to make me want a controller. But I have played several 3rd person shooters where I was frustrated at having to pick between perfect movement or perfect shooting (Just Cause 2 comes to mind)

Think Borderlands with Guild Wars 2 public events. Most of the time it'll just be you and/or your party. Every now and then you'll get a public event and the game will pull in several random people to fill out the event. After the event is over, you go back to your normal borderlands-esque game.

Pretty much, except no "massively" part. I'm guessing 32-64 players tops. Not the thousands that WoW supports.

I believe he's specifically talking about movement, not aiming. And the fact that you have to push an extra button to walk, indicates that a joystick is the superior control device for movement. A lot of PC gamers (myself included) will admit that controllers are better for precise movement.

Problem is they weren't trying to be Steam. At all. As others have said, you can buy steam codes from dozens of retailers. So far neither PSN or Live offer something like that and there was no indication they would. They also wanted to continue to control the retail space through their alliance with GameStop. As long

I can see where you're coming from, but I think what Xbox was trying to do was unhealthy for the industry as a whole. They were trying to simultaneously capture the digital market while maintaining a stranglehold on retailers. The only people who win in that situation are the big companies, not consumers.

Honestly as someone who's buying a PS4 and didn't approve of the Xbox One's policies, I think Sony didn't really need to comment. To me it's just not classy. They've said their peace about Microsoft, anything more is just kicking them while they're down.

I think it's a poor value at MSRP, but then most things are. As stated in the article, the low point for PS3 right now is $180. With a MSRP of only $200, sales should be able to beat $180 easily. Course this depends on whether or not your savvy enough to add a hard drive...
