I grew up in Florida & my husband’s family is from Michigan. Not even close on the racism scale. Upper mid-west is way worse than the south. I was surprised. At least in the south people seem to know when they are bigots, the mid-westerners don’t seem to acknowledge their behavior.

You are absolutely right about old people and seat height. I’m in my 60s and have a Scion XB, its small , the seat is up high and there is a lot of interior space. Don’t know what I’ll do when I have to buy the next car. I’m eyeballing the small Ford transit vans.

Have a friend who moved from California to NC 2 years ago to be near the grandkids. She and her husband just try to avoid any political discussions.

For the last 10 weeks or so, I have been calling my congressman’s office several times a week. My husband doesn’t call but hears my calls and then tells me what I should have said.

My SIL doesn’t think for herself. Her domineering husband tells her what to think and do. Its been that way for 45 years. So she would absolutely do things not in her best interest.
