I disagree though. There has been such a rich history of terrible things done in the name of god, I just can't get behind thinking it's good for anyone. Logically I know what you are trying to say. The harmless person, using it to get through their life and have hope for something at the end of all of it, but

Damn, it's amazing when anyone is saved from an aortic dissection. She and her baby are very lucky!

I totally agree! I have one Mormon friend on FB who's also super preachy because she's a convert who just thanked God for the fact that a recent medical bill was like 1/6 what she thought it would be...when that would have been the perfect "Thanks, Obama!" moment. Nope...God totally took his time to lower her health

As a surly atheist, I get incredibly upset when people thank god when a doctor has just saved them. It wasn't a miracle, says surly atheist.

>Doctors sign away their 20's to develop the skills to save others' lives.

Exploding aorta? Well then. This is our little reminder that pregnancy does a number on the body — to be bookmarked next time anti-woman agitators bring up the "risks" of abortion. And to answer your question, yes, that's my takeaway. Was pregnant two times and I hope to not feel as sick again for a long time.

My favorite thing about the pre-kinja system (aside from, like, everything) was how I never had to read these kinds of trollish comments because I didn't have a star.

This is quite possibly the best and most useful Lifehacker post of all time.

I saw a bra strap once. Woke up six days later in a ditch outside of Reno, covered in blood and cocaine. Never saw my car again.

"My kid died because nobody responded to what occurred at Sandy Hook,"

The best way to prove that you're not a misogynist is to deny that misogyny exists and believe that anyone who perpetuates the idea that MAYBE IT DOES is just a fat, bitter cunt.

I'm also angry for the many girls and women for whom the risk isn't out on a late night walk, but right in their very homes. Something about the place that should be the safest actually holding the most danger is just so cruel, and so very damaging.

Yeah, people suck. I hate the inevitable response to these posts. Not knowing anything about the history of this particular cat or its owner, I am going to go ahead and give the man the benefit of the doubt. He wasn't thinking about deterring the animal, he was thinking about protecting his child, and I am sure it was

I'd REALLY like to throw them all in a cage with an angry tiger (which is the equivalent of a 22-lb enraged adult cat against a 7-month old) and see if they ask spectators to think up a rational, appropriate disciplinary response while looking for a spray bottle.

Team baby all the way.
I love animals; during many points in my less than ideal childhood they were my only friends. But you better believe that if one of my pets just snapped and went after my child I'm not going to turn around and leave the room to go get a spray bottle to see if that works first. Like wtf people??

For real. What is wrong with the people in these comments?

Have you ever had a 22 pound cat attack a less than 20 pound infant? You use what's on hand (or foot) to get it off.

Excuse me, but what the fuck is up with all the people jumping down this dude's throat for kicking a cat WHILE IT WAS ATTEMPTING TO MURDER HIS BABY.

Every single comment here is 'ARGHBLAGH I CANNOT BELIEVE HE KICKED THE CAT, WHAT, I CAN'T EVEN'. I love my dog & cat, but kicking seems like a reasonable response to an animal that's attacking or about to attack a kid. The article does not say the cat was punted across the room, so everyone relax.

Apparently, the cat attacked the baby and the baby needed medical attention. I think it's a natural reaction to rough up an animal that is attacking a baby. And I say this as a person who practically worships her dog.
