This movie was absolutely huge when it came out. Very, very popular with teen girls particularly from what I recall being at school at the time.

I’ve always thought that with a title like ‘Legends of the Fall’, this film should be WAY cooler than it really is.

Tarkovsky movies feel intensely visual and atmospheric in a way that is less script-dependent than a more straightforward drama. Like, I sometimes try to imagine Stalker as directed by Ron Howard or something, and it always makes me laugh.

That said, yes, that’s a hell of a career move.
