I have always hated Thatcher, and watching Helena Bonham Carter dress her down was my favorite part of the first four episodes I’ve seen. God, Helena can do AMAZING things with body language and tone of voice. I want to see Princess Margaret be snooty forever.

Well, any fears that I had that The Crown would be painting Thatcher in too sympathetic light were assuaged by this episode. I found myself literally yelling, “FUCK MARGARET THATCHER,” out loud alone in my apartment while watching this. (This is actually to Gillian Anderson’s credit in my opinion.)

The Denis/Margaret dynamic is very sweet.

A show that tends to be more sympathetic to its male characters than its female ones”. I don’t agree at all. I think the biggest legacy of The Crown will be the public rehabilitation of Princess Margaret (and Princess Ann, too).

One of my favourite contrasts between Thatcher and Elizabeth is how their respect marriages seem to function.

I think the issue is the tendency to only call out these things when they’re associated with white women and not the overall issue, which is Americans’ love for self-mythologising propaganda, and the fact that that American propaganda always features white people.

You’re absolutely correct that this has no impact on church doctrine or laws. But I think we can’t underestimate the impact this will have on public sentiment. There will always be extreme thinkers on both ends of the spectrum (very left, who think Francis isn’t liberal enough; and very right, who think that he’s not

Yep. My favorite cousin has one glaring flaw, and it’s this same mindset of middle-class-stability privilege. Chris Pratt is probably a “political moderate,” but in 2020 I don’t think that’s a thing anymore. You can’t just shrug at 200K+ dead, rampant human rights abuses, and the decline of democracy.

Hung out with Caroline a bit in my early college days as she was good friends with one of my good friends. She was probably about 17, still in high school. She was sweet, fun-loving, and clearly deviated from her father’s values then, so I’m not surprised to see her speaking out now.

You’re a good egg, Caroline. I’m

Plus, if you get Cube on the court, he’s trouble. Last week, he messed around and got a triple-double.

Cube’s not wrong. You don’t work with the regimes you want, you work with the regimes you have.

“Why was Ben Carson so angry?”

Yeah, I took Karate for 2 years in second and third grade, 82 and 83. We wore no protective gear, although we were not allowed to hit above the shoulders. I participated in one tournament between schools in the greater Houston area in the summer of 82, and won my age/belt group by continually using the Bruce Lee

Did you even karate in the 80s? :/

This! Cobra Kai is even more infuriating re: contact fighting. As a lapsed karate practitioner, that’s not how reputable tournaments are run. They’d NEVER get insurance, for one thing. Also, concussions are now a thing, and with all the head trauma, on of those kids definitely had one.

I loved this episode so much. It might be my favourite so far. We learn what Ji-ah is. And we learn what Atticus has become during the war. What was their relationship. And why he stayed in Florida instead of coming home.

Joelle and I really aren’t on the same page with this series... this episode was the best of the season for me, and yet it’s the only one so far to get less than an A grade. Opinions sure are weird, huh?

I love that skit.

Another episode with so much going on it’s going to take another viewing or two in order to digest it all

The scene when Ruby/Hillary gets the free ice cream cone, instantly reminded me of the classic Eddie Murphy SNL skit, “White Like Me”
