I agree, and programs exist to engage inmates to encourage learning about life skills. Funding comes and goes, but privately run prisons have no incentive to reduce recidivism.

Going from 7 visits per week to 3 is unacceptable. Possibly 5 per week would work, but better to keep it at 7. Not everyone works M-F, 9-5. Visits are so important for inmates future success and for families, as this article points out. Most people in prison don’t get regular visits and there are many hoops to jump…
