Well, she does admit to being a homicidal psychopath, so that probably has something to do with it.

That’s pretty textbook sociopathic behavior. (I don’t want you to think I’m excusing it or something, because I’m definitely not, just pointing out that I’m completely unsurprised.)

15 years? I’ve seen enough movies to know she’s going to go straight from prison to working as a hood for organized crime, where she’ll kill her way to the top of the organization within two years.

This .gif should be the entirety of Danson’s Emmy submission.

:( poor Betty

Now you made me all sad. That scene was crushing.

One of my favorite movie!

My favorite movie! So, so heart wrenching.

I cry everytime when I see that scene...and also when Perry tells Betty that she’s an embarrassment and when Muriel sees all of the clippings that her mom kept of the wedding

Oh that scene makes me tear up just thinking about it.

When Trump didn’t wait for her when greeting the Obamas, it reminded me of the character of Betty Heslop in Muriel’s Wedding.

I disagree. It’s important because language is important. And Trump’s language has been that of an autocrat, which is something that we should be aware of.

Mostly it’s the singing and the dancing.

Huh. Fair enough. Just FYI - the link you posted isn’t working for me, but I was able to find coverage elsewhere of Obama and Bush both declaring their inauguration days as holidays as well. I guess it’s just a symbolic thing they do, though I still think it’s weird. I guess it’s not as disturbing as it seemed at

Thank you for this. A woman isn’t lacking in agency just because she’s making decisions you don’t agree with. I might concede that she’s in over her head, but to cast her as someone so blank that she can’t muster up the power to make her own decisions is a disservice to both her, and other women like her. Just because

Once again, I haven’t seen any of these movies. Are any of them worth it, or are they all overwrought award fodder?

I think the problem is calling it “Patriotic Devotion Day” that is making me want to vomit. It sounds too much like what a tin pot dictator would do.

Thank you for the link. Obama’s was about us as a people coming together. Trump’s came off as jingoistic and I think we’ve all had enough of that.

I’m exhausted from waking up everyday, reading a headline, and saying “Is this real life?”
